MISSING PERSONS-SKIP TRACING

Although law enforcement does investigate missing person reports, they simply lack the resources to fully pursue every person who has gone missing. Moreover, only a small proportion of missing adult cases fall under the purview of the police or FBI. To be reported missing to law enforcement, specific circumstances have to be attached to the case, such as the possibility of the missing person doing harm to themselves or others, is the person experiencing a mental health crisis or medical condition, is the missing person elderly or handicapped/disabled. Those eventualities account for only a small fraction of actual missing persons-meaning that, in most cases, law enforcement will not be able to help you find someone who has disappeared, leaving you to your own devices.  That is where a Private Investigator can step in and help.

Essex Investigations possesses the skills, resources, and contacts to locate people who have "disappeared." A large proportion of missing people can even be found relatively quickly. Even appearing to "vanish" is difficult. Essex Investigations will work to resolve to the best of their abilities cases involving missing persons. Unfortunately, some missing persons fall victim to a serious crime where great efforts have been made to conceal the location of the missing person.

Typical Missing Person Cases:

  • Long-lost loved ones

  • School friends and classmates

  • Heirs to estates

  • Family members

  • Distant relatives

  • Former business partners

  • Runaway teens

  • Fugitives

  • Eye-witnesses

  • Defendants

  • Those trying to avoid paying child/spousal support or other debt

Skip Trace

A skip trace is an investigation that traces people who have skipped town. Unlike a missing person investigation, in which the subject’s disappearance may be voluntary or involuntary, a “skip” is seeking to vanish on purpose.

Skips can be divided into three groups:

  • accidental or unintentional skips (such as people who miss bill payments or suddenly move residences);

  • frightened skips (such as people hiding from their creditors); and

  • deliberate skips (such as persons who have engaged in fraud and are evading the law.)

Our skip trace investigations can locate all three varieties of the skip. If you believe that someone in your life, be it a business associate, debtor, tenant, or even a friend or relative has skipped town, the skip tracer services offered by Essex Investigations will trace and locate them for you.
